Cowards Corner
You cant have too much coward in your life. Heres Jamie's thoughts on W the movie and the president.

W review
This could have been a masterpiece. A legend among dramas with so much potential, but it fell short cause he was trying to beat a dead horse to much. First of all Ill go over what he showed W past- him being a drunk college boy, meeting Laura, becoming a christian, daddy bush hating on him and w wanting to prove himself,w looses his congress bid, daddy bush becomes pres, daddy bush middle east war, him loosing to Clinton. w becomes gov of Texas, W decides to run for pres.present-making the axis of evil speech, deciding to attack Iraq, everyone on his staff except Colin Powell wants it, the after effects after Saddam is overthrown, the American people protesting and hating on w.As you can see the whole present was only about the Iraq war, it left the impression on how much it was a mistake. It also shows his advisers especially vice pres making more designs for him. It ended seeming a one sided attack after building up a like-able character. We all know Iraq is a mistake and there were no weapons of mass destruction. Why does O stone feel he has to remind us over and over.this one and only theme in his present ruined the movie. Now here are some things he should have shown. His daughters being born, or him playing with them, they were mentioned and you saw a pic but that was all. I think that would have made him more like able and human. Him winning the pres and celebrating. We never saw that. Once he announced he was running it jumped to him preparing the attack Iraq speech.9\11 we have heard the stories of bush reading to elementary kids when his advisers come in and whisper in his hear about the towers, I would have love to seen this and to see what happened after wards up to the speech that day.maybe O Stone he will do a Alexander the great and release a 1 hour longer directors cut I'm sure this would help but for what it is it falls short.
The real W
Everyone seems to be jumping on the bandwagon calling the w the worst pres ever. I cant say that. I will just go over a few points i think most people missed. The last pres that had to make choices like W was FDR. that is the last time we were attacked on a large scheme.I remember that day I was crushed and felt pretty bad but his speech later that night brought my spirits up I believed him when he said we will come together and get through this. We did, everybody was waving the American flag "even the Mexicans" . Bush promised revenge and Afghanistan was the revenge. I remember watching a football game it was the steelers playing someone and before the game W announced we were air bombing Afghanistan. Then after it was over Bill Cower pointed to the monitor and said this is what it is all about fighting for freedom. We had to act and show we were no punks you hijack out planes we shell your country. So up to this point I think everything that needed to be done was done. Now we get into the shady business of Iraq. The gov used the excuse that there were weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. This was the main thing to attack Iraq. Well they still have never found any. I think people are forgetting how crazy Saddam was and how he would have cause some problems eventually. I think at one time or another he would have had to been removed. But there are many crazy dictators in this world. Many are mass killing there own people. Why did Saddam get the nod. Obviously it was the oil, other places have no oil. To become the true superpower America has to control the oil. So W going after the oil to better the country at the cost of thousands of American lives. I'm sure that makes him a rotten leader in many peoples eyes. I think anyone else would have done the same. Many people think American leaders are holy and would never do anything wrong. Someone praying and calling himself christian does not change that. Yes they make mistakes and purposely break the law.they do what they feel is best for the country.

About W, the actual president not the film. I haven't seen it. I do feel that he is the worst U.S. president of my life time. Of course, I was just born in 73, but so far a case could be made for this. I don't know if by the time I die he will still hold that title in my mind, hopefully that will be many, many years from now and he still will. If he does, in that will mean to me that we have had some pretty decent presidents in my life. The runner-ups to worst pres. ever could be these.

NIXON - You know, Nixon was corrupt for political reasons mainly and he had an overwheming distrust in nearly everybody and because of this disorder, his compulsive suspicious nature about those around him made him crooked and dishonest.

LBJ - LBJ was another, while wildly popular among most americans at the onset of his elected term as president, LBJ was a backroom wheeler and dealer like no other. He got more accomplished in the US Senate before becoming VP and Pres. as anybody before or since. Though he did most of this through " Hook & Crook. " He kept us in Vietnam through what some say was " I'll scratch your back and you scratch mine " deals with defense contractors and politicians. So even though LBJ did more for the poor, underprivledged, and minorities in america than any other present since Lincoln, he was not an honest, upstanding guy. He was in fact a shady politician who knew how to get things done.

JIMMY CARTER - Jimmy Carter is considered by most to have been a pretty bad president. But the Carter case is different. Jimmy Carter wasn't a great leader by any stretch of the imagination and perhaps wasn't strong enough to hold the job. But Carter was an honest and respectable person. It truly was the case of the Good guy, wrong job. And his advisors were pretty bad too.

In my opinion, W has been a bad president for so many reasons that I could probably go on all night about it. I don't believe he is an honest person with the American Public. That is perhaps his biggest fault . We had to go to Afganistan, that was a No Brainer. But Iraq, well that was about something else and what exactly I'm still not sure. If it would have been about oil, I could actually see a case for going in there and taking the country to get their oil for our use and also to keep it out of terrorist control. Though at the time, before the invasion/ liberation, the oil was in no danger of that. Hussein ruled the country with an iron fist. He was a brutal dictator no doubt about it, but many Iraqi people weren't exactly an easy going, peace loving group either. I contend that democracy, or at least our form of it doesn't work everywhere and about 95% of the middle east it does not work and will not now or at any foreseeable time in the future. But getting back to the oil issue ? If we invaded for their oil, then.... why haven't we even used it to help rebuild their own country. Not a drop. Their oil supply is valued on the petro market at about 84 Billion dollars. But instead of using their own oil revenues, mine and your tax payer dollars are paying the bill. When we leave, be it in 6 months or 6 years from now Iraq will have to decide their future for themselves. Just like every other nation should. So was it about oil ? I don't know. If not, then what ? W showing up his dad ? Look what I can do that you weren't willing to do. Was that it ? Or was it just plain old bad intelligence about WMDs ? I seriously doubt that one. I believe that not one single american life was worth any of this so far. Not one. Then there is the issue of our economy. No it's not all of W's fault. It really isn't. After all, NAFTA was kicked into full force by the previous administration. Unbalanced international trade practices and unwise agreements were continued and broadened by W but not started by him. Though, many bad borrowing/credit policies were continued and got worse under W. Borrowing from China and the Middle East got a lot worse under W. We now owe China a king's ransom. U.S. Energy Policy got a lot worse under W and totally secretive. The deregulation of the stock market happened under W ( this term ) which allowed the current economic crisis to even happen. But some democrats were on board with this deregulation or self-regulation as well. Republican senator Phil Graham (of TX) wrote most of the deregulation legislation, a good friend of W. The borders opened up under W and illegal immigration soared to heights unimagined just 10 years ago....most of this open border catastrophy ocurring AFTER 9/11. Which is outrageous to many people. So the lies, the deceit, the unwise and dishonest decisions that he has made has to put him in the number one slot of the worst presidents in my lifetime. A lot of people still dislike Bill Clinton for his unwise extra marital affair(s) while in public office and as sitting president. But you know, that aside as it truly did not have anything to do with his actual abilities as president. He left this nation better off than how it was when he came to office. He left us with a huge national surplus, the economy was pretty strong at the end of his 8 year run and prosperous through out. Much stronger than it isnow, 8 years later. My hope is that next tuesday, we can begin to get away from the horrible decisions and policies of this administration that have plagued us for at least 4 years if not all 8 and go towards a direction of prosperity, advancement as a nation and as a people, positive change, and hope.
