88 Minutes Movie Review
Starring Al Pacino
Directed by Jon Avnet
I can pretty much sum this movie up in two words. Acceptable thriller. Nothing original or groundbreaking but solid acting and a decent script. The movie was filmed back in 2005 but just now recently released at the theater with little advertisement.
The movie is about a university professor that works with the FBI in forensic psychiatry (Pacino) , whom one morning gets a phone call that tells him that he only has 88 minutes to live. That morning also happens to be the execution date of a serial killer who he helped put behind bars with his testimony. Also that morning it is discovered there was a copy cat killing of a woman whom he knew. There is a stay of execution until the cops can find out if the real killer is still at large. The rest of the movie Pacino is on the phone and going from location to location to try and solve the mystery before his time runs out.
It was an engaging movie for the most part. They do a decent job of throwing red herrings your way having you guess until the end who the real "killer" behind everything is. The ending reveal was ok and the conclusion was a little anti climatic. I doubt ill ever watch it again but it was enjoyable enough to recommend if you are a fan of thrillers. On a scale of 1-10 I give this a naked chick wearing only an apron 6.0
