Susperia - Cut From Stone Cd Review
Ive been a Susperia fan since their debut Predominance back in 2001. They are not the most skilled musicians or most original hooks but they definitely have a like ability factor to them. Their newest album Cut From Stone releases on June 19, 2007 and its so far one of my favorite albums of their five. For those who dont know Susperia is a thrash/groove with a pinch of power metal style of band. The singer has a very good gritty singing voice with sometimes a light growl. The first 3 tracks are cool but the 4th track on the album titled Distance Memory is one of my favorite tunes ever by them. It has a cool acoustic style intro that turns from ballad to a cool metal groove with an awesome solo interlude breakdown. The 5th track called Release has layered vocals and a super catchy main riff and chorus. It has cool distorted bass lines and riffs throughout. Tracks 6 and 7 are more speedmetalish but still have the distinct Susperia sound. Track 9 Under is a mid tempo ballad song with some cool clean guitar tones and catchy vocals. It also has a pretty cool melodic lead. The last two tracks 10 and 11 are also very solid. Overall I think its a solid entry into anyone's headbanging collection. I give it a 8.0 out of 10.
