Symphorce Cd Review
This cd is what I call a stepping stone cd for young metal heads. To me there are 3 types of metalheads. The first kind jump straight into the heavy shit was no regard and come out the other side a metal lover for life. He dont care about radio, commercialization or any of that other crap attached to music. The second type of metalhead is the kind that likes metal but is not ready to make the jump head first right away. They still like the commercial side of it but crave something with more meat on it. The third type of metalhead is commercial lovers only. They do like commercialization and metal is more of a fashion/social statement to show society, parents, etc.... Majority of people fall into category 3 which some grow out of and some stay there forever. I would say Symphorce is a category 2 band. They are definitely heavier and less commercialized as bands such as Disturbed, Godsmack, Rob Zombie but they still have a highly produced commercial sensibility and hooks. The positive things I have to say is i liked the keyboard/electronic sampling and the singing was great but still it lacked something to bring it to greatness. This is their sixth full length album but only the first one that ive listened to. Great singing and some good hooks but still light on original riffs and solos. The few leads they have are well done but I was hoping for more as the music to me begged for it. Ive heard it a few times and like a few of the tracks but I still cant recommend it for hardcore metal lovers. 6.5 out of 10.
