Review Xbox 360
Lotr: Battle for Middle Earth 2.
When i first heard this game was coming out i had serious doubts on how it would translate over to a console. Rts just begs to use a keyboard and mouse. Up to this point no one had ever figured out to port an rts to console without making it clunky or to take out some features. Amazingly they figured out how to port it over with great controls. The learner curve is a little higher than on a pc but the controls are still intuitive and actually work great. I still prefer a mouse to move around than the analog stick but its a minor gripe cause the stick works a lot better than i expected. The graphics are awesome and the soundtrack and audio are excellent. The only negative things ive experienced so far are a little slow down during big battles and some of the soldiers are a bit on the small side. Luckily you can zoom up on the soldiers in battle and watch the battle or heal or use magic powers to aid them. You can choose from 7 classes of warriors each with their own unique abilities. You can buy heroes such as gandalf, gimli or basically any of the characters who got screen time in the movies. Theres nothing like the feeling of being able to use ents or Treebeard to attack and smash the goblins lair while my flaming archers take down the fortress and supply shacks. I realize this game is not for everyone but for those who are looking for something different and unique for a console i would definitely give this a rental or a buy if you are a rts fan already. Highly recommended. 9.0
