ROADHOUSE 2
When i first heard that a sequel was made for Roadhouse i was hoping and praying that Patrick Swayze was going to reprise his role as the unstoppable bouncer extraordinaire Dalton. But no that was too good to be true, instead it stars Dalton's son Shane Tanner played by Johnathon Schaech who is an undercover DEA agent that comes to the rescue when his uncle (Will Patton) gets injured while protecting his club the Black Pelican. Basically some bad drug dudes want to buy the bar to make it a drug trafficking hang out because its easily accessible to the swamp for smuggling; and the bar owner (Will Patton) is refusing to sell. So nephew Shane is there to take care of the bar while his uncle recovers from his injuries. The main baddie "Wild Bill" is played way over the top by Jake Busey. So is it a worthy sequel? Yes and No. It was definitely entertaining especially the way it starts. Within the first 5 minutes you see so much T&A and an awesome fight sequence i was prepared to experience that the whole hour and a half. Sadly the T&A disappears for the most part with the exception of a few scenes but the ass whipping still commences the whole duration. There is a throwaway love subplot with a bad actress but the action definitely delivers. Most of the fighting is martial arts based with straight brawling mixed in. Surprisingly it is choreographed well and a pretty decent end fight with Jake Busey fighting Shane with a large chain as his weapon of choice. Of course the movie would not have been complete without the obligatory car explosion scene. I was beginning to think the screenwriters forgot to add this once it got close to the end. But alas they came through just in time. Even though i would have preferred a sequel with the one and only Swayze, this was overall a very entertaining follow up. If you liked the original then i definitely recommend renting this sometime. Overall i give it a solid 7.3
