*repost from 04/30/2009 Ghosts of Goldfield released today 06/09/2009
Both of these movies are set to be released on dvd 05/05/2009 and both of these movies suck pretty hard. Neither one of these deserve a full length review so heres my thoughts on each.
From A Place of Darkness Review
Directed by Douglas Raine
Starring John Savage and Bronson Pinchot
The plot had so much potential but the movie failed to capitalize on it. The story is about this documentary filmmaker that is doing a documentary on a snuff film director. He has access to talk to him at length and to also work in the warehouse where all the killings and movies take place. If it would have just been that then it could have had mad potential. They could have played the angle where the documentary dude had to decide whether he was going to keep filming the guy to make a good movie or to turn on the guy and turn him in to the police. There is one cool scene where he does meet one of the potential victims. But alas the movie takes a left turn and the whole thing ends up having a supernatural element to it and the filmmaker dude is not even a real human. There is also another twist at the end but there just isnt enough to make the movie entertaining.

Ghosts of Goldfield Review
Directed by Ed Winfield
Starring Marnette Patterson and Roddy Piper
What a boring piece of shit. There is practically nothing in this movie thats even remotely good. I think Marnette Patterson is hot but unfortunately this is a horror movie not a porno. The movie is about a group of friends that are doing a documentary on this haunted hotel. When they arrive they encounter a restless spirit that is there to kill them. Marnette's character is the granddaughter of the ghost and yada yada....same ol bullshit heard a thousand times before. Roddy Piper has a minor role and he's pretty fucking terrible and over the top. I was bored all the way to the very end. My only recommendation is to stay far away from this pile.
Rating: 2.2 out of 10.
