Favorite Comedies of 2008
This is my first "best of" list that im rolling out this coming week. I normally hate comedies but this year was one of the strongest years for this genre. To qualify for this category the movie had to be released in some format for the first time in 2008 and to qualify as a comedy the movie's main purpose of the movie had to be that it was meant to be funny. In my opinion that automatically disqualifies Burn After Reading and Gran Torino which I both liked. Maybe Burn After was a comedy but to me it had a lot of dramatic elements so i consider it more as a drama. Now my top 2 two were easy to pick but the rest was rather difficult to decide what order they go in. So here we go from 10 to 1.
10. Kisses and Caroms- low budget indie movie thats kinda like Clerks at a Billiards store.
09. Forgetting Sarah Marshall- I didnt like it as much as most people but I still enjoyed it.
08. Tropic Thunder- I enjoyed the last 30 minutes but I thought Jack Black was sorely underused.
07. Hide and Creep- Originally filmed in 2004 but first release on dvd this year. It is a great zombie comedy very much in the tradition of Clerks. Second half is not quite as strong but still great material.
06. Kabluey- A quirky comedy that also had heart. Im biased since it was filmed in my neighborhood but I still liked it quite a bit. The bit with him pissing and running in suit is one of the funniest moments on film for me this year.
05. Dont Mess With The Zohan- A lot better than I was expecting. Ran a little bit too long but still some good stuff.
04. Zack and Miri Make A Porno- Poor Kevin Smith. He finally makes a funny mainstream movie and still doesnt have a hit.
03. Run Fatboy Run- I love Simon Pegg and this is all Simon. I think a lot of people either didnt see this or forgot about it.
02. Pineapple Express- It was way better than I was expecting. Some great funny shit that happens. Maybe I would like it even more if i was a stoner?

01. Step Brothers- I love John C Reilly and Will Farrell and this features both of them at the top of their form. Great story, cast, funny gags and jokes plus a solid ending. Easy #1 pick for me.
