Lost Boys: The Tribe Movie Review

Is the movie a piece of shit? Yes. Was I entertained and glad I saw it? Yep. This sequel to the original cult classic is pretty much what I was expecting from a straight to dvd sequel. While I liked the original Lost Boys I always thought it was a little overrated in the 80's horror pantheon. One thing this movie does do is capture the cheesiness and vibe of an 80's movie perfectly. If you didnt know any different someone could see both, and assume this movie was filmed just a few years after the original.

The movie is pretty much an exact copy cat of the original. Some new kids move into town and the head gang vampire (Angus Sutherland) Shane, seduces and turns the girl into a half vampire. Her brother Chris gets help from Edgar Frog (Feld dog) and goes after the vampires before his sister transforms into a full blooded "suck monkey".

Lets start with the bad. Angus Sutherland is a non acting douche bag that doesnt have an ounce of talent that his older brother Kiefer has. When he talks he sounds like he has a dick in his mouth. It got so fucking annoying at how bad he was. The other actors were adequate and it had a cool cameo with Love Machine himself, Tom Savini. Corey Feldman probably was in the movie a total of 15 minutes but he did have some of the best lines in the movie. For some reason it sounds like he's been gargling some glass the past few years. I wish the movie would have branched out more with the vampires back story but I understand why they did a rehash of the original. All the music was pretty much modern rock bullshit but it did fit the tone of the movie.
What did work was the vibe and feel of the movie. The directing and cinematography was adequate and the pacing was pretty much spot on. I do have to call bullshit on one scene though. The main kid Chris, was in a shower banging this super hot chick and he pushes her off when he hears a scream at the party cuz he thinks his sister is into trouble. Unless I see blood or see my sister getting chopped up theres no way im getting my wet naked ass away from a hottie like that. There was some cool gore shots of intestines being ripped out, beheadings, a head explosion and others that will satisfy most gorehousnds. Be sure when the credits roll to keep the movie on cuz there is a cool cameo from the Haimster (Corey Haim). Yes the movie was cheesy and sucked in the critic review sense but if you are a fan of the original or Mr. Feldman then this should satisfy you. On a scale of 1-10 I give this a Holy Water balloon 6.5 out of 10.
