Gutterballs Movie Review

Now this is what im talking about. A sleazy 70's/80's style exploitation slasher that was filmed last year! Im talking about tits, pussy, cock and even a graphic death by 69ing! This movie is fucking hardcore with some very graphic kills. I'll be honest it is almost too brutal even for me. Theres a 5 minute rape scene involving 4 guys and a bowling pin that had me cringing in pain. Theres also a dick slicing scene and other nasty sick kills. The soundtrack is cheesy 80's canadian rock bands and the kids are all fucking assholes. I mean from the first frame you just want to reach through the screen and dick slap them all. Horrible acting, cheesy dialogue, so in other words, it was cast perfect.
The movie occurs in the 80's at a arcade/bowling alley over two nights. The bowling alley manager lets two groups of rival kids come after hours so they can have a bowling match. The first night there is a fight between two of the kids and the manager tells them all to leave and come back the following night. The first group leaves, but one hot girl with a super short skirt and pussy lips hanging out, forgets her purse so she goes back to get it. While shes in there she gets raped by the rival group of kids. The following evening she's back (ridiculous I know) with her friends for the bowling match. Slowly the kids get picked off by a mysterious killer with a bowling ball bag for a mask. The mask looks goofy and kinda cool in a fucked up way.
As you can tell theres not much to the ridiculous plot. Everything is pretty much set up for the next brutal kill. Of course there is a whodunit element to the story that was obviously choreographed throughout, but still was effective. I applaud Mr. Nicholson for sticking to his guns and making this a graphically intense but campy movie. He captured the tone, feel and even look of the 80's down to a T. Theres even a cool funny scene involving a smart ass bowling waxer machine that dont take any shit. This is the kind of movie that would have been perfect for a next installment of Grindhouse.
The movie is definitely not without its faults. Like most horror movies I thought the ending was a little anticlimatic and cut too short. Even though the actors were horrible which added to the atmosphere I just wish there was at least one character you could like or even cling to. But nope I was rooting for all those bitches to be sliced to pieces. Also I wish the kills were spread out more but it takes awhile for the killing to start and the last 30 minutes there is a bunch of kills in a row. Im definitely gonna keep my eye out for this director and any projects he has in the future. For gore fans and for slasher fans out there then this is a must see. Get ahold a copy of this by any means necessary. Just make sure you get the unrated uncut version. Highly recommended and on a scale of 1-10 I give this a bloody mangina 8.7 out of 10.
