Dragon Tiger Gate Review
This is one of the 3 recent collaborations from Wilson Yip and Donnie Yen, and I definitely liked it better than Flashpoint. The story is basically a comic book style action movie. The story is not that great, a few cool comedic moments and kind of a simple cheesy plotline. Despite all that its best taken as a popcorn type action movie and not a great "thinking" action movie.
The fighting choreography is awesome and it has a little wire work and cgi enhancements but nothing too over the top. In fact its some of the best choreography Ive seen in a while and its Donnie Yens best work in that department.
Its your basic good vs evil, good brother vs bad brother who becomes good later, scenario. If you enjoy Kung Fu Hustle and that style of fighting then you should also love this movie. This movie is getting very mixed reviews so far but I definitely enjoyed it and recommend it to any fans of this type of kung fu movie. On a scale of 1-10 I give it a "Tiger roundhouse" 7.5 out of 10.
