Boy Eats Girl Dvd Review

"This zombie loves his girlfriend for her brains." Great tagline for the movie but unfortunately the rest of the movie doesnt live up that level of cleverness. Ever since the zombie revival of the new Dawn of the Dead remake there has been a whole slew of std zombie movies. Majority of them are low budget and suck ass though. For every movie thats the quality of "Fido" there are 10 "Zombie Wars" type of movies released. This movie falls somewhere in the middle of the pack. The production values and the acting were all decent but the story was pretty cliche and bland. I thought the movie was going to be more gory and funny than what it turned out to be.
The plot basically involves a high school kid that is in love with this girl but never has the balls to ask her out. She likes him too, but through a misunderstanding he thinks she is cheating with one of the jocks in school. He gets drunk, and accidentally hangs himself. His mother finds an ancient pagan ritual text from a local church and performs the ritual to bring himself back to life. One of the pages is gone from the book so she forgets one ingredient to make him fully human. Instead he becomes a zombie and this is when all hell breaks loose.
There were a few moments I liked, like when the jock chased the "cool" teacher through the neighborhood and the final showdown with the farm equipment was gory fun. Too bad the movie missed something special or different to make it stand out. If you are a zombie-head then It is one of the better ones but overall I cant recommend it to the average horror fan. On a scale of 1-10 I give it a snake bite healing 5.5 out of 10.
