Bloodlines Dvd Review

Heres my plot synopsis. A clan of inbred hicks from the sticks of Kentucky kidnap women and then force them to fight each other to the death. Once there is a victor the woman is taken and raped by the head hick, Billy Bob Hackford, in hopes of continuing the legacy of the Hackfords. Unfortunately for the Hackfords one of the women they capture is a southern tomboy from Alabama thats ready to fight back. Once word gets back to her brothers that she's missing they go on a hunting trip and Hackford is on their hunting license! To me that sounds like an entertaining movie. Too bad the budget was way too meager for this ambitious movie. Also too bad it had some of the worst actors and dialogue Ive seen this year. I do give props to the head hick Billy Bob played by Jason Padgett. He does a great job as a boozing, sister loving inbred and head honcho of the Hackford clan. Other than him the acting was terrible.
I wanted to like this movie even though I am semi tired of the inbred family horror trend of recent years. The fights were horribly choreographed and there was little gore for the amount of deaths. Probably close to about 20 people died overall and I cant even recall any memorable death. Two of the inbreds were horribly disfigured and their make up job was laughable. It looks almost like they went and bought a couple of Walmart Halloween masks for the movie. There was one great line from the movie though. Just after Billy Bob just got through screwing this chick at the beginning of the movie. She puts her arms around him and asks: "Why dont we have a baby?" Billy Bob answers "G-d dammit thats sick, youre my sister!" Unfortunately the rest of the movie didnt have any more of those great moments. The ending was so melodramatic and cheesy I had to laugh. The disc is bare bones but there was a commentary track that seemed pretty interesting for the few minutes I heard. Overall i really cant recommend this to anyone except fanatics of inbred family movies such as Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Wrong Turn, Hills Have Eyes. Just dont expect anything near that quality. On a scale of 1-10 I give it a inbred sister lovin 4.5 out of 10.
