Captivity Review
Thank God I didnt pay to see this movie. It looks like not many others paid to see it either since it debuted in 12th place at only 1.5 million. Having said all that I can see this doing good business on dvd. As you can see here this movie overall polorizes people with either hate or love for the movie. For me im just tired of it. Serial killer capture and torture movies are just played out; especially when it brings nothing new to the table. There was a twist to the movie, which was more obvious than Pamela Lee's boob job, which i saw coming about a 1/3 of the way through the movie. The movie is just plain lame. There no gore, no groundbreaking dialogue, no tension built up and no sense of dread or urgency whatsoever. Did I mention this movie was lame?
The movie is about this model chick (Elisha Cuthbert) is kidnapped and wakes up in a cell. In the cell (which is the only cool part of the movie) are lockboxes which have different outfits in there each day, which the kidnapper makes her try on and wear. Why would you have someone like Elisha in the movie if you're not going to show any skin? Did they actually think she would magically learn to act and carry the movie? Eventually she discovers that there is someone captured next to her room and they scratch off the paint off the glass so they can see each other. Over the next few days they are drugged and once ever she was tortured by being in a glass sand box that ended up pretty lame. I wish it looked as cool as the above picture.
Anyways there are cops on the case which figure the whole thing out way too fast and the finale is predictable and lame as the rest of the movie. I cant recommend thing to anyone, the more I write this review and think about it the more Im getting pissed on how bad it was. Just for production values and a cool looking cell I give this movie a lame sandbox 3.3 out of 10.

Now why couldnt she have been wearing this the whole movie?
