Saw III
Movie Review
I wasnt originally planning on seeing this at the theater but my 16 yr old nephew and his buddy begged me to take them. Im not a Saw freak by any means but i though Saw 1 and 2 were solid horror movies even though they were overrated. My expectations were mild until i started seeing rave reviews from a bunch of websites. Then my interest rose a little even though i remained cautiously optimistic.
It was a solid last entry into the series. I mean i hope its a last entry. I dont want to spoil anything but if it goes any further then this movie, then it was step into ridiculous territory like the last few Freddy, Jason and Michael movies. In my opinion i rate all 3 entries equally. You could easily makes cases for any of the 3 being the best in the series. So if you liked the other two then you should probably like this one and if you hated the other two then you probably will hate this one also.
The death scenes were not very gory but some of them were pretty brutal. There were a couple of cool ones like the rib cage rip and the pig guts drowning machine. The movie was a little longer than the other two but it didnt feel like it to me. It jumps right into the movie right away, so if you were not familiar with the other two then you would be totally lost. Its basically a two fold story of this man that had his daughter killed by a drunk daughter and he has to go through a test put together by Amanda and Jigsaw. He has to decide whether or not he saves the witness who saw and didnt testify, the judge who only gave a 6 month sentence and the drunk driver himself. Thats one facet of the movie and the other part is Jigsaw is on his death bed and Amanda kidnaps a doctor who has to help Jigsaw by perfoming surgery on him. She has to relieve pressure from his brain and has to cut out a section of his skull. That whole scene was so sick and realistic looking. There is a great storyline about the teacher/pupil relationship of Amanda and Jigsaw. Theres some minor plot twists that i saw coming the whole time but was still pretty well executed. Once again no nudity in the series which kind of sucks overall but still a solid third and final entry of the series.
