Extra Extra.......Breaking News!!!Ive been a long time Netflix customer and tried Blockbuster online trial about 6 months ago. Overall they were much slower in receiving and shipping my movies compared to Netflix; but i loved the free in store movie coupons you could get each week. That was still not enough to get me to change services so i stuck with Netflix even though Netflix sucked compared to when i first became a customer. Also by now most people know that Netflix "throttles" the movies so a customer cant get too many sent to them in a months period. So recently i had a chance to start up a new Blockbuster Online 2 week trial so i decided to give it another go. This time the movies come much faster which is pretty similar to Netflix but it seems like im not on a long wait list like i am with Netflix lately.
To get to the point of the story while i was at Blockbuster store using my free rental coupon I overheard a worker telling someone about their in store dropoffs. She told me that recently Blockbuster can accept your online movies and you can trade them in for any movies they have available on the shelf. They will mail in your movies for you and you get your next shipment to you. So basically this means you can have a 3 movie out at a time online rental plan and go to turn them in at Blockbuster store and get 3 new ones. Then while you have the 3 store rentals at home you can get your next batch in the mail. So 3 store movies + 3 mailed movies + 1 coupon rental movies = 7 total movies you can have at one time from Blockbuster!!! I asked why this is not being promoted and she said she has no idea but expects the word to spread soon. It was a test trial in Colorado for awhile but now it has spread out to the rest of America. I havent tried this yet but once i do ill update with further details. If this is true with no catch then this could be a huge blow to Netflix. Ill repost with updates once I try this and get the results. Check your local Blockbuster to see if they are participating with this plan.
