This is a zombie comedy very much in the tradition of Shaun of the Dead. It started fairly strong but there just wasn't enough substance to last an hour and a half. The movie starts off after about 6 months after a zombie apocalypse and 3 friends are living together at an apartment in New Zealand. One of them is a bookish nerd type that is the brunt of their jokes, another is a ladies man and the last one is kind of a psychotic musician that's in his own world. The 3 of them sit around watching t.v. (on what electricity?) and eating food until it runs out. The best sequence in the movie is when they go on a food run and they are killing zombies along the way. One day they decide to go out to have some fun and look for survivors. In their souped up zombie killing car they come upon a church that has some survivors in it. When they arrive they fight off some zombies and save a hot scientist chick. She claims to have a cure to turn the zombies back into humans and she needs their help. They need to get to a lab and mix up some blood concoction then fly it to an island where other scientist will use it to complete the experiment. It had a decent far fetched story but it just fell flat on most of the humor. Don't get me wrong there were a few scenes I laughed out loud but by and large I just stared at the t.v not laughing at all. One good thing it did have going for it was the blood and gore. It wasn't anything too crazy but with the obvious low budget they were working with most of it was very solid. One thing I did like was the bleak ending. I wouldn't really recommend this to the average horror fan but if you are a zombie movie completest or love the whole zomcom genre then this is a decent flick. On a scale of 1-10 I give this a zombie parachute, 5.9 out of 10.
