Heres Jamie's thoughts on two movies that are on peoples best of list.
I have been reading a lot of top 10 list and I will have mine up next week. I wanted to comment now on 2 movies I see discussed when it comes to the list.
Speed Racer - some people have this worst of and some have it on their top list. After the bad word of mouth once it was released I decided to wait till dvd cause at that time I got rentals for free. So I did not wanna take any chances .
The Good - speed racer and Racer x played by Emile Hirsch and Mathew Fox were very good acting wise and sold the parts.
The effects when racing was great eye candy and I loved all the racing.
The Bad - The family and everyone else. I love John Goodman but he was over the top in this. He was pops racer. One scene he fights 3 ninjas by doing wrestler moves. Every time Speed was around the family I hated it.
The Ugly - One of the worst written characters ever. I think he is a big part in the cartoon but damn do not bring him to the big screen.
Spritle Racer, Speed racers younger brother and the monkey. This kid is the most annoying want to shoot in the head, little kid ever.
There is one scene were him and the monkey eat all this chocolate and they go racing around the building on their sugar buzz.
Those characters were straight for 5 year old and they were in the movie too much.
The bad outweighed the good and this is not the worst of year but in the top 10.
Rambo - I seen this on dvd and was not sure what to expect. The first 15 minutes was ultra violent, the villains did not play. They even threw a little kid to his death.. I saw what was going on, We were supposed to hate the villains so bad that we wanted to them to die so when Rambo kills them we enjoy it. That wraps up the movie. Villians continue doing evil things and Rambo kills them all. After Rambo runs out of ways of killing them, he grabs a big gun and shoots
hundreds of them at once. There is even a missionary who is against killing the whole movie then he's forced to kill. Rambo was very creative with his killing which was cool but thats all the movie offered I could not watch it more than once.
To be on a top list you have to have some story and character development and this had none just violence after violence.
