Steel Trap and Asylum
Damn I hate when movies covers dont have any fucking thing to do with the actual movie. In Steel Trap there isnt a corridor with saws and that chick aint even in it! The movie is about a bunch of party goers that get a text message that tells them to go to a special elevator, enter a code and they are invited to a VIP party on the 27th floor of this abandoned building. When they arrive they are given clues to find some type of prize that is waiting for them. One by one they are picked off by some mysterious killer. Decent concept but the movie is a slasher by the numbers cookie cutter bullshit. There isnt even one decent kill in the movie or a character in the movie thats even likable. Of course there is some lame twist thats fairly obvious early on.
The second movie Asylum I was really looking forward to since it was directed by David Ellis who directed my favorite entry of the Final Destination series, part 2. Its about a bunch of freshmen coeds that have their orientation into their new dorm, which happens to be an old asylum where a crazy doctor did experiments on the patients. All of a sudden the doctor comes back to take revenge on the new "crazy" kids. The movie started off rock solid with a cool cast and some witty dialogue but by the end of the movie it ended up being another Candyman/Freddy knockoff. The directing was solid and it had a really high production values for a stdvd movie. Too bad the lame story stopped it from being a hidden gem.
