This movie started off with so much promise. I was hoping to get a Joyride type of thriller but there wasnt much joy to be found here. This is another one of those indie festival movies that finally was released straight to dvd. There is a lot of promise in the direction I just thought the movie fell flat towards the end.
One of my favorite shots of the movie. The story revolves around a Canadian d.j. and his g/f on a trek to California cuz she has a T.V. show audition. Their car breaks down and they spend all their money to buy her a bus ticket to Cali while the b/f is going to hitchhike his way there. On his way he gets picked up by a cracked out drug dealer. At night they stop at a gas station, and after the kid pays he goes outside to see the drug dealer fallen out of the car stone cold dead. The attendant assumes the kid had killed him and chases after him with a shotgun. The boy flees with the car and buries the body. The next day he meets two sister at a gas station that are also going to Cali and they beg him for a ride. He reluctantly agrees and off they go. Of course their is more than meets the eye to the girls and all hell breaks loose.
Jeremy you didnt tell me you were in a movie! The twist ending of the movie worked but what came after that is what ruined it for me. By the end of the movie I was bored of the chicks and just ready for it to end. If you like these type of thrillers then it might be worth your time but for others I couldnt really recommend it. The acting was decent, the direction adequate but the last third falls flat and ends on a sour note. On a scale of 1-10 I give it an instant Polaroid 5.2 out of 10.
Heres the trailer
