Hide and Creep Movie Review
Directed by Chuck Hartsell and Chance Shirley
Starring Melissa Bush, Chris Hartsell and Chuck Hartsell

If you look close at the cover you see a quote from Kevin Smith that says "even better than Shaun of the Dead". While I wouldnt say it was a better movie overall it was definitely funnier to me. I can see why Kevin liked it so much cuz it reminded me a lot of like Clerks, but with zombies. Hell even one of the main characters of the movie is a video store clerk.
The movie starts off in a small town in Alabama, with a naked dude waking up in a forest by a graveyard with his g/f and car missing. At the same time the local video store clerks opens shop and a zombie comes to attack him. A homeland security agent parachutes in and claims the zombies are caused by aliens. Other characters include a deputy with no car or cellphone, his ex g/f dispatcher, a pastor, and three hunting buddies that encounter the zombies in the woods. The movie basically follows the exploits of these characters trying to survive the zombie outbreak.

While the acting wont win awards it fit the tone of the movie perfectly. This is one of the movies you know is going to be a minor cult classic and Im surprised I havent heard of it before. Its a shame when movies like these with a micro budget are better and more effective that 90% of other horror blockbusters.
Despite the low budget there are some decent effects and gore shots and the dialogue overall is pretty witty and funny. While the first half is really good the second half does slack somewhat. Overall it was a refreshing take on the zombie/comedy genre that I quite enjoyed. Without spoiling too much there is a great monologue on Coke vs Pepsi and exchange about widescreen dvd's. If you are a fan of this type of movie then its a definite must see recommendation. On a scale of 1-10 I give this a 8.1 with a side of spinach.

Heres the fairly spoiler free trailer
