Mosh It Up Baby!
Music Reviews
Artist: Benedictum
Album: Seasons of Tragedy
Kick ass old school style classic/power metal. This is the 2nd album by these blokes. Ive never heard the first but im definitely going to check it out. The vocalist is of the screechy 80's style (Axl, Halford, Sebastian Bach) and the background vocals are super over produced which fits perfectly. Catchy choruses, solid leads and great headbanging riffs. Great subtle complimentary use of keyboard. The album definitely grows on you more with each listen. Towards the end it tapers off a little bit with a ballad and an epic type of song which are just ok. Overall its a solid album for fans of classic metal. Only for fans of this type of metal though. I give it a solid 7.1 out of 10.
Artist: Kings X
Album: XV
Kings X is one of those love em or hate type of bands. Every new album they have, there is the rumor that its gonna be like their phenemonal Dogman album. And every album they come out with since then is solid but its not Dogman. Hell, Doug could sing the Book of Mormon and make it interesting, he's that good. I think its easily one of the better albums since P.D. (post-Dogman) era. One thing that stands out more on this album than the other recent one are the ballady songs that Ty Tybar sing on are some of the better ones on the album. Some of the stand out tracks are Pray, Blue, Go Tell Somebody, and my personal favorite Move. Its another solid entry in their discography. I give it a 7.6 out of 10.
