Diary of the Dead Movie Review
Directed by George Romero
Starring a bunch of dipshits
Wow, I cant begin to even start to state my disappointment with this movie. I knew something was amiss last year at the Fantastic Film Festival in Austin when the movie was shown. I didnt get a chance to go see the special screening with George in attendance but I talked to a lot of people that got to see it. When I asked them about it I either got a "yeah it was pretty good" which wasnt exactly enthusiastic and probably a fanboy just happy to see George or I received a dissenting headshake and "no it was a huge flop." I wanted it to be the former but it was definitely the latter. I mean I couldnt even fathom how bad this movie turned out to be. I couldnt think that George could do something this terrible on purpose. I mean this is the man who brought us the classics Night of the Living Dead, and Dawn of the Dead and the above average Day of the Dead and Land of the Dead.
How do I even start to name the things wrong with this film. I think I can find a way. Shitty fucking script. Shitty dialogue. Terrible actors. Boring zombie attack and kills. Atrocious narration. Huge holes in logic. I could go on and on how bad this movie was. Ive seen a lot of bad std movies over the past year but this was so bad I had to force myself to finish it.
For those who dont know yet the movie is about a group of college kids that are filming a horror movie in the woods and they get the reports in that a zombie outbreak has occurred. Then very nonchalantly they go across the country in a van looking for their families. One girl shoots herself so they go to a hospital to get her medical condition. Once they arrive at the hospital zombies show up.
The first problem with the movie is the lack of people in it. Have you ever stepped outside of your own house. There are a lot of fucking people in America. Yet in this movie you would think the whole country only had a few towns in it. The news reports try to gloss over the event like its not happening which is ridiculous and impossible to hide. George actually tried to make us believe this? Does he actually understand how news and the internet actually works?
Half way through the movie they meet up with a group of black militants. That whole section of the movie is also pointless and ridiculous. The camera man that films this movie has a weak explanation on why hes filming and never tries to help. Pretty much I could go on and on how bad this movie is but you will find out for yourselves.
I wouldnt recommend this movie to anyone but I know zombie and Romero fans are going to see it anyways. Just be prepared to be seriously fucking let down. Please George do something else and leave the Diary franchise out to die! Out of a scale of 1-10 I give this a cgi acid zombie 1.9 out of 10.

To sum up this is what the movie is
