Boot Camp Movie Review

This is the epitome of an average movie. The movie wasnt great and it didnt suck. It had a great premise but didnt capitalize on it. The acting was adequate. The score was adequate. I was kinda interested in it but then I would get bored.
The movie is about a childrens boot camp located in the Fiji Islands. Mila Kunis character is a spoiled brat that causes trouble and her new congressman step daddy has enough of her and sends her off to camp. When she arrives she is chained with some others to concrete pillars on the beach and has to fight off the incoming waves for the rest of the night. The rest of the time there the camp is ran by a militant crazy dude that tries to change the kids by breaking them down physically and mentally. Later Milas boyfriend finds out where she went and he purposely gets sent there so he can rescue her. After that the movie gets predictable and it ends kinda ridiculous compared to the tone of the rest of the movie.
This is one of those message movies about the horrors of boot camp and even a message is scrolled at the end of the movie that states that over 40 kids have been killed over the years from these type of tough love camps. To be honest with you I kinda liked how the camp was run and I think a lot of these type of kids need this kind of discipline. Yes they did go too far in the movie but in general im not opposed to this type of thing. The subject matter, setting, and cinematography was all very interesting but the script lacked and the movie was kind of all over the place. I wish they would have focused on a group of kids and showed more of how the camp was run. I cant recommend actively seeking out the movie but if see it sometime on cable and have an hour and a half to spare then im sure its probably worth a look. So for an average movie I give it an average score. On a scale of 1-10 I give it a "fucking 8 guys at once to get back at your parents" 5.0 out of 10.
