Run Fatboy Run Movie Review

How the hell did a movie direct by David Schwimmer and starring Simon Pegg get released to dvd unnoticed? I had high hopes for the movie but wasnt expecting something as funny and professional as it turned out to be. I have no idea why this wasnt released in theater cuz with the right marketing it could have been huge. I f-ing love Simon Pegg. I liked Shaun of the Dead and I absolutely loved Hot Fuzz. His character in this movie was my favorite character of his so far. The movie is basically about this loser that buckles to pressure and leaves his pregnant wife at the alter. 5 years have passed and he is a lowly security guard and his ex has found a new rich handsome man. Simon finally realized what an asshole he's been and he wants to win her back. He volunteers to run a marathon like her new b/f just to prove that he can be committed to something and not give up. The movie is not that original and even cliche in parts but it dont matter because its f-ing funny when its on. Even the supporting cast, his loser gambling cousin and his fat Indian landlord have some great scenes. I normally hate Thandie Newton but shes actually sweet and tolerable in this movie. The are some great one liners, funny scenarios and some great physical comedy that all add up to my favorite comedy of the year so far and im sure it will remain in my top 2 or 3 comedies at the end of year. On a scale of 1-10 I give this a solid spatula ass slapping 8.2 out of 10.
