BorderTown Movie Review
This is a straight to dvd movie about the true story of all the women workers that have been murdered on the border town of Juarez, Mexico. Im surprised with the actors, Martin Sheen, J-Lo, and Antonio Banderas plus the decent production that it didnt get some kind of theatrical release. J-lo plays a reporter that gets sent down to Mexico for a big scoop on the missing women of Juarez. Apparently once the Nafta agreement went full force thousand of women were employed in factories on the border to make cheap goods for the U.S. There was little to no security for the women and on their way home they would get raped and killed. The estimates were anywhere from 400 to 5000 women were killed during this time. J-lo goes undercover as a worker to find out who is doing the killing while also helping a young woman who was raped and left for dead.
Overall i kinda enjoyed this movie since I knew little to nothing of the events that took place. But it did try to be many types of movie but doesnt succeed at any of them. Sometimes the movies plays as a thriller and sometimes as an investigative piece but something falls flat in the execution. Its one of those movies if its on while you are cleaning then it might be worth your attention, otherwise its a pass. On a scale of 1-10 I give it a J-lo ass shaking 5.1 out of 10.
nope these are not scenes taken from the movie.
