Gone Baby Gone Movie Review

Directed by Ben Affleck and starring Casey Affleck, Michelle Monaghan, Morgan Freeman, and Ed Harris.

Yep its the same Ben Affleck of Giglo and Bennifer fame. Im there with most when it comes to Ben jokes but I do have to admit he did a kick ass job directing this movie. This movie was a good straight kick to the nuts. Thats actually a good thing but only when the subject is about some kind of review. He won an Oscar for screenplay and now he directed this so maybe he has found his true calling and will stay away from acting. Unless theres a Daredevil 2 then im all for it.

This is from the writer of Mystic River and you can tell from the first frame. Its basically the same type of locations (Boston area) and tone but overall I actually prefer this movie. If I would have seen this last year Im sure it would have cracked my top 10 of the year.

The plot is basically about this 4 year old girl that is kidnapped from this white trash lady and the girl's aunt pays some private detectives (Casey Affleck and Michelle Monaghan) to use their knowledge of the streets to help find the girl. Lets just say their is more than meets the eye to the whole case and once everything is finally revealed Casey Affleck has a great moral dilemma deciding what he should do with what he has discovered.

Its a smart flick that has a few cool action sequences, some great suspense and best of all it makes you think. With lesser actors and director this movie could have easily been cheesy and a mess but Ben did a terrific job putting this whole thing together. Casey Affleck was great and it looks like he will be around for awhile with all his recent awesome work. On a scale of 1-10 I give it a "Moby look alike being shot in the back of the head" 9 out of 10.
