Living Death DVD Review

This is one of those movies that looks better on paper and in trailers than how it was actually executed. Im not sure if it was the direction, production, or script issues that stopped this movie from being a std classic. Overall the casting was near perfect. Greg Byrk was perfect as Victor, the dickhead millionaire husband who cares nothing of the world but himself. Kristy Swanson as Elisabeth, looking a lot older, but still hot, plays a lonely housewife looking to get out of her situation with Victor. The only miscast I thought was of the other main lead Joshua Peace as Roman, the lawyer and secret lover of Elisabeth.
The dug the hell out of the story and the concept of someone that is perceived to be dead but is actually in a catatonic state and can still hear everything that goes on around him. Basically Victor is a womanizer that likes to live his life on the edge as seen in the first bad ass scene of the movie. His wife Elisabeth is secretly screwing Victors lawyer and best friend. They decide on a plan to have him overdose on drugs and then live happily ever after. The lawyer convinces Victor to make a will that states when he dies there is no autopsy, organ donor, or embalming and he will be buried immediately the next day. What ends up happening is the lawyer, Roman, gets an experimental drug from his buddy that he uses to put in Victor's food and drink in hopes of getting him to overdose. Well Victor does overdose but he doesn't die and goes into a paralyzed state where he appears to be dead but is actually fully aware of whats going on around him.
Up to this point the movie was fairly interesting thriller that starts to turn into a horror movie. There is a cool graphic scene where some med students are cutting him open and Victor finally gains control of his body and wakes up. Once he's awake he goes on a rampage killing people that he knows screwed him over. The problem is by the time this happens the movie is almost over and its wrapped up entirely too quick. The final confrontation scene was actually pretty cool and had some great gore.
Overall I mildly enjoyed it and realize it could have been so much better in someone elses hands.
On a scale of 1-10 I give it a bone breaking (you'll see) 6.0 out of 10.
Heres the trailer

Heres Kristy at her hotness peak
