The Shadow Walkers Dvd Review
I wanted to be able to recommend this movie but it fell just short of the "so bad its good" category. There have been a slew of std movies that have impressed me overall this year including my favorite so far this year "First Born". Unfortunately this is not one of them. There are a lot of unintentional and intentional laughs throughout and some nice gore but its still too cheesy to wholeheartedly recommend. Not to mention it has one of the worst nothing to do with the movie dvd covers ever.
The story is your basic run of the mill, people are infected by some military super soldier experiment gone wrong. The movie starts off with the central characters waking up in a run down, blown up industrial factory without knowing who they are or how they got there. The sets were probably the best thing I liked about the movie. The factory looked better in my opinion than anything in the Resident Evil movies minus the bad cgi in some parts.
The acting by everyone was pretty horrible minus some good one liners by the main baddie Clay Adams (Clay). The script luckily never took itself too seriously or tried to be more than what it was. There are a few fight scenes that had the central character Reeve (Jason Corviello) involving karate fighting the zombies that had me smiling. The movie never stoops so low as Troma depths but could have been so much more with a little bigger budget and better actors.
The dvd has a nice little making of but other than that its bare bones. Overall I enjoyed some of it but on a scale of 1-10 its gets a "roundhouse to the zombies face" 5
