Pranks a.k.a. The Dorm That Dripped Blood Dvd Review
I love 80's slasher horror. Ill be up front about it so you'll know where I'm coming from. Some of the best and funniest horror movies ever were from the late 70's early 80's slasher horror. Most include horrible actors, cheesy lines, red herrings, great music , cool jump scares and kills. While Pranks is not at the top of the list I'd probably place it somewhere in middle.
The story revolves around a group of kids that stay back during spring break and are preparing a dorm to be torn down. While the 4 are alone in the dorm there is a mysterious killer taking them one by one and killing them off. Is it the lonely guy that decided to stay back from spring break? Is it the new perverted guy that bought all the furniture from the dorm? Or is someone else lurking to kill them all?
Of course there are some red herrings and the twist in the movie makes somewhat sense. The jump scares are few and far between and the kills are very basic and unimaginative. The music soundtrack is cool but unoriginal and the twist is ok but there is still very little to make it rise above dozens of other better slashers at the time. Only can recommend to the most die hard slasher completest. The disc is pure bare bones. There are no making of segments and the print quality is actually pretty poor. All things considered, on a scale of 1-10 i give it around a 5.5
