Undisputed II Dvd Review
This movie came out of left field, then rain past the infield and kicked the umpire right in the face. I had never even heard of Undisputed 1 much less part 2, until I read the favorable review on kung fu cinema.

The movie stars Michael Jai White (Spawn) and British stunt actor Scott adkins. For the role Michael is buff like ive never seen him. I always knew he was a great fighter but he had never had a role like this to showcase his talent. He does a great job as George Chambers and ex heavy weight fighter thats over in Russia to promote some vodka and gets framed for drugs. He gets thrown into a mob ran Russian prison and forced to fight Boyka(Scott Adkins) which is the current underground undefeated champion. Boyka also believes he is the greatest fighter on the planet and wants to prove it against George.

The story is adequate and does have a few cliches but the fighting is interesting enough to overcome any of these shortcomings. The framing and editing of the fights is spectacular and is on par with anything out of Hong Kong. Jai White proves his overall talent in the role but the showcase role is from the baddy played by Scott Adkins. Scott also beefed up, but not quite to the level of Michael, performs some moves that Ive never even seen before, on par with the likes of Tony Jaa. He was previously seen in Danny the Dog (Unleashed) and I hope he gets more ass kicking roles like this one.

The director Isaac Florentine of the excellent U.S. Seals 2 once again proves he knows action and how to film it. From now on im keeping my eyes peeled for any project he's attached to. I give this film my highest recommendation for a martial arts movie but just dont expect any groundbreaking story. I give it a solid 8.9 and easily the best action movie of the year.
