Favorite Movies of 2006
There was a whole boatload of movies i didnt get to see that i wanted to such as Borat, Jackass 2, Apocalypto, The Fountain, Little Miss Sunshine, A Scanner Darkly, The Departed and many others, so to qualify for my list it just had to be something that was released and i saw in 2006 or a movie released theatrically in 2005 and i finally saw on dvd in 2006.
It was a close call between 1 and 2. They both were clearly to my favorite of the year.
1. The Host- Ive seen it 3 times with different people and everyone loves it. Great mixture of whole bunch of genres.
2. The Prestige- Christian Bale has to be the most underrated actor working today. Another great movie by Chris Nolan.
3. The Descent- a surprinsingly good movie that came out of nowhere
4. Tom Yum Goong aka The Protector - I am still in awe of what Tony Jaa can do.
5. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang- My most watched movie of the year. Great acting, script, dialogue.
6. Running Scared- Another underrated stylish movie that had my blood pumping.
7. Brick- Very stylish, probably too much for most but i dug it a lot.
8. Fearless- The best Foreign Martial arts epic of the year
9. Hatchet- very formulaic slasher but had a great time, with some great gore and kills
10. (tie) Match Point and The Last Kiss- both depressing but great takes on love.

Favorite Comedies of 2006
Im not going to lie, i hate comedies. Most are cheesy, unfunny or just have a few memorable scenes and the rest is crap. Here are a few though that somehow managed to make me crack a smile.
1. Accepted
2. The Break Up
3. American Pie: The Naked Mile
4. Nacho Libre

Best Theater Experience
Both of these was like a party atmosphere
1. Snakes on a Plane
2. Hatchet

Biggest Disappointments of 2006
1. Repbulicans no longer the majority in Congress
2. Tony Jaa not being a household name
3. Bad remakes of classic horror movies, I'm all for it if its done correctly.
4. Nacho Libre- Great premise and acting but somehow it falls short of what it should have been.
