Halloween Movie Blowout Part 2
Here's the second half of what i got to see over the weekend. First up is the ultra low budget movie Dawn. The movie is in black and white and is basically like a full length student project film. I liked the plot and some of the dialogue but the acting was horrendous. Its basically about a father who takes his 10 yr old vampire daughter across America so she can feed. To justify her actions they search until they find someone with a terminal illness and the girl feeds off of them, and then they steal their money so they can survive. There is a crippled psychic who is on their trail because his mother was killed by the mother 10 years earlier. The movie had a decent concept and some of the dialogue i liked but the acting was oh so bad. I'm talking K-Fed rapping bad. Overall i kinda enjoyed it but could never recommend it to anyone.
Next up is It Awaits. Damn that has a bad a$% sick cover. Ive been wanting to watch it for awhile just on the cover alone but i was assuming it was a good 80's monster horror flick. What it ended up being is a modern Jeepers Creepers in a forest clone. I mean the monster looks cool as hell when they finally show it but its about a 90% clone of the Creeper. The movie was sappy, straight to video cheese. It also has an obvious cheesy ending with opportunity for another straight to video crap sequel. The chick in it was pretty damn hot and had a rack to die for. Too bad she never fully showed it off.
I did finally see some good ones starting with Halloween 5:The Revenge of Michael Myers. Ill be honest this one surprised me. I saw of course years ago but i forgot how good it actually was. Part 4 was enjoyable even though it was more action to horror ratio then i liked. But part 5 actually had a lot of cool scenes. I liked the way Michael was in the background throughout the whole movie. It had a cool creepy vibe to it. I loved the ending, after he was finally caught, how he was broken out of jail by a mysterious figure. Great movie and recommended for all Halloween fans to check out again.

Next up i watched Slither. It was a fun little horror movie that lived up to what i was expecting. Most people ive talked to either loved it or absolutely hated it. I enjoyed it a lot and it a lot of funny one liners. When i first heard of the movie i thought it was going to be a Night of the Creeps ripoff which leads me into my last review.
I was able to get a bootlegged version of Night of the Creeps. Its only out on VHS currently but like Monster Squad it can be found bootlegged onto DVD. Ive seen this movie probably a dozen times already but not since about 3 or 4 years back. Well, its still pretty bad ass. Its about this alien meteor that crashes to the ground in suburbia 1950's. This alien slug jumps into this guys mouth and makes him a zombie. He gets caught and frozen then finally unleashed in present time(80's) by a few friends trying to make it into a fraternity. So the slug gets unleashed and terrorizes the town. The slugs jump into your mouth, control your brain, then they multiply and bust out of your head by jumping into someone else's mouth. Its 80's horror fun to the max. All the actors are awesome and perfectly matched for their role. Its hard to believe the Slither director when he states that he didn't know about Night of the Creeps before he made Slither.
So to wrap up i chose a good selection of modern, old school and even an Asian horror movie and the conclusion is what i thought was going to happen. Most straight to video sucks and 80's horror still rules.
