Fantastic Film Festival Wrap Up
The Festival went off as a huge success in my eyes. I didnt get to see everything i wanted to see such as Wilderness and Severance but that was do to my own personal schedule. I saw a lot of underground movies i would have never seen on the big screen; or they will be available a long time from now on dvd. The Alamo Drafthouse rocks as a venue. I love the atmosphere, food, waitstaff and everything in general.
I also didnt get to see the big commercial movies Pan's Labyrinth, Apocalypto, and TCM but thats ok ill see them on the big screen in the new few months anyways. Heres a quick summary of what i saw. The Awesome movie: The Host....just plain Fantastic....read my full review for more info. The Very Good movies: Broken and Hatchet. Broken totally surprised me and is probably one of the better low budget movies ive ever seen. Hatchet was just plain action slasher fun. It was about what i was hoping it to be. Flawed but still a great ride. The Fun movies: Abominable and Frostbite. Both are great movies for each type of subgenre. Overrated movies: Renaissance and Blood Trails. Both of these are weaker the more i think about it. Renaissance was definitely style over substance and Blood Trails is only for slasher completists only. Last but not least is: Parasite 3-D..the worst 3d movie of all time!!!!!!!
All in all a great time and already saving up to get a badge for next year. Probably be around 2oo bucks by then i bet.
