Straight to dvd gems:
11:14 and Cruel Intentions 3

11:14 might have had a limited theatrical release but i sure dont remember seeing anything about it. This movie is one of your basic set of stories that seem unrelated but come together to have something in common at the end like movies such as "Go" , "Crash" and "Amores Perros". The movie has a great cast including Patrick Swayze, Barbara Hershey, Hillary Swank, Colin Hanks, Henry "E.T." Thomas, and an almost unrecognizable super hot grown up Rachel Leigh Cook. The story is so f'd up in a good way. There is cemetary sex, hit and runs, a store robbery and a scene with a kid running with his friends schlong in his hand. It also has a cool funky sound track that fits with the mood of the movie perfectly. I had never heard of the movie when it was recommended to me. Try to stay away from the spoiler heavy trailer if you can. Lets just say if you like black comedy movies at all you should love this. Dont take my word for it go to check out Imdb's user comments to see all the raving reviews. Cuz we all know how reliable those a-wipes can be.
Cruel intentions 3. Dont laugh. I can hear the snickering all the way down here in ATX. Ill be honest i wasnt that big a fan of the first one. I dont like Sarah Michelle Gellar but i liked the character of Sebastian played by an underrated Ryan Phillipe. It had its moments but overall it was disappointing. Cruel Intentions 2 had a decent story and a cool plot twist but it was cheaply made and produced with very amateur low rent actors. So when i saw part 3 i wasnt expecting much of anything. It ended up being a pretty good movie. If you had to pick up a chick flick and watch it with your lady i recommend getting this over a majority of the trash thats out there. The only connection between part 3 and the original is the fact the main actress Kristina Anapau (sexy smile) is the cousin of Sebastion, or was it Katherine? Anyways the movie becomes a battle of wits, bets and general deviousness as the three main characters go back and forth trying to outdo each other. The movie looked like it had a decent budget and was shot efficiently by director Scott Ziehl whos currently shooting Road House 2, hell yeah!!! The only real negative i can think of is it should have shown a little bit more skin. Anyways thats my hidden gems for this week.
