Tarantino may have his bigges hit. Its his biggest opening ever. Only time will tell if it will catch up to Pulp Fiction with 107 Million total. Looks like his buddy Rodriguez didnt fare so well with Shorts at only 6.6 million. They should have pushed the fact it was from the director of Spy Kids even more. District 9 is still holding on strong.

Thanks to Boxoffice.com  Only one movie surprise. The collector which has got lukewarm reviews but still looks better than the average horror movie opened up in 11th place and 3.6 million total! Yet teeny bopper crap makes more than that in half of an opening day. Almost ashamed to admit Im a horror fan with the Box Office totals. Horror is going more and more the straight to dvd route which im personally ok with. I can see why when a lot of horror movies bomb at the box office.

Wow I cant believe Drag Me To Hell is being dissed so bad. I cant remember the last time I loved a commercially viable movie so much that didnt make that much money. No surprise with Up being #1 again but damn I sure wasnt expecting The Hangover to be that big of a hit. Land of the Lost did pretty much what I was expecting. I love Will Ferrell and even enjoyed the Tv show but the trailers for the movie looked like total crap.

This is the are you fucking kidding me edition. How did Drag Me To Hell only manage 16.6 million dollars!? With all the rave reviews and word of mouth I though for sure it would make almost twice that. Hopefully positive word of mouth will at least sustain it at the top for awhile. No surprise Up made that much. Kids movie + positive reviews = cha ching. Im just hoping it helps the whole 3D trend which I love so much. I think I'll catch it next weekend.

I still cant believe that Monsters vs. Aliens is the top grossing movie of the year. I guess thats a good sign for 3D.

At least for a few more years I dont want the fucking industry saying that downloading leaked movies hurts box office. In fact in the case of Wolverine it may have even helped. I guess fanboys were hoping that there really was extra footage or that the completed special effects helped it. I saw Wolverine this weekend and I can tell you that the movie was still garbage. Probably better than Xmen 1 and 3 but still pretty damn bad. I also saw Monsters vs Aliens in 3d and mildly enjoyed it. If the whole movie was as good as the opening space sequence then they could have had a masterpiece. I dont see any other surprises in the top ten.

No surprise that a kid's movie took #1. Im tempting to see it in 3D so maybe I'll catch it on matinee. Pretty sad that a Pg-13 horror movie brought in so much money. Its nice to see theater worthy Taken and Coraline jump up in the standings. I have a feeling Slumdog Millionaire will jump up next week after the big well deserved Oscar win.
